1. Provide Warm Shelter: If your Akita spends most of their time outdoors, make sure they have a warm, insulated shelter to retreat to when it's cold. The shelter should be large enough for them to comfortably move around in, but small enough to retain body heat. Additionally, the shelter should be elevated off the ground and have a door or flap to keep out drafts.

2. Dress Them Up: Consider dressing your Akita in a warm coat or sweater to provide additional insulation during cold weather. Choose a coat that is water-resistant and fits well to ensure it doesn't hinder their movement.

3. Watch for Signs of Hypothermia: In very cold temperatures, Akita dogs may be at risk of developing hypothermia, a condition in which their body temperature drops dangerously low. Signs of hypothermia include shivering, lethargy, and difficulty walking. If you notice these symptoms, bring your Akita inside and contact your veterinarian immediately.
