Approximately 3y/o Male  American Akita  Hatchi was rescued from a breeder he was used as the Stud but is now fixed. He is a quiet and very loving dog.  He is kennel trained and leash trained but does still pull just a little bit. Hatchi is great with other dogs as long as they are not aggressive towards him. He has a super playful & sweet personality loves hugs and kisses. Currently he lives in the house with a female Akita Shepard and female golden retriever. I’d love to rehome him somewhere near Tacoma so he can still have play dates with his sister

Akita Coat Colors: Understanding the Variations

The Akita is a large breed of dog that originated in Japan. There are several variations of coat color that are recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Japan Kennel Club (JKC). In this response, we'll explore the different colors and patterns that can be found in Akita coats.

  1. Red: The red Akita has a solid coat color that ranges from a deep mahogany red to a lighter, golden red. The undercoat may be a slightly lighter shade of red. This is the most common color for Akitas in Japan.

  2. White: White Akitas have a pure white coat with no markings. The nose and eye rims are black, and the eyes are usually dark brown. The white coat is caused by a recessive gene and is relatively rare.

  3. Brindle: The brindle Akita has a coat that is a mix of black and red hairs. The brindle pattern can vary from subtle stripes to bold, tiger-like stripes. This pattern is caused by a dominant gene and is relatively rare.

  4. Sesame: The sesame Akita has a coat that is a mixture of black and red hairs, giving it a "salt and pepper" appearance. The black hairs are usually concentrated on the tips of the coat, giving the dog a red appearance from a distance. This is also a rare color.

  5. Fawn: The fawn Akita has a solid coat color that ranges from a light tan to a darker brownish-red. The undercoat may be a slightly lighter shade of fawn. This is also a relatively rare color.

It's important to note that some colors and patterns, such as black, black and tan, and black and white, are not recognized by the AKC or JKC for the Akita breed standard. It's also worth noting that coat color can vary within a litter, and even within an individual dog's coat over time.

Overall, the Akita's coat colors and patterns are quite unique and add to the breed's distinct appearance.
